about

my story

as a costumer, i have a particular passion for PERFORMANCE/theatrical wear; especially drag design. the more EXTRAVAGANT and glamorous, the better in my eyes.

SIMILARLY, i also have a strong INTEREST in historical dress, specifically the 1980’s. This INTEREST extends to historical subcultures; having a INTEREST in the PSYCHOLOGY of dress and IDENTITY.

I also love DEDICATING time to EMBELLISHMENT and breakdown, focusing on CAREFUL detail within my costumes. Wether it be screen printing, painting, RHINE-STONING or embroidering, i love seeing a costume come to life through care and attention.

I look forward to being able to apply my learned skills and detail to opportunities within industry.

education

Growing up in rural hampshire, as a child i used to pilfer my mohers sewing kit. i’d spend hours playing with her threads, thimbles and buttons much to her horror. i waited on the day when i could FINALLY have a sewing kit of my own. this was until my 13th birthday when my late-grandmother gave me her sewing machine. in the midst of lockdown, i taught myself to sew and the rest is history.

Originally training in stage MANAGEMENT and prop design, i fell into costume when working on a pantomime. Since then, i have been lucky enough to create designs i could only dream of.

interests

I am currently in my final year at Falmouth UNIVERSITY studying Ba (Hons) costume design for film and TELEVISION. my course has developed my skills as a practicing designer/maker; using a range of industry machinery and software such as The adobe suite, clo3d and AUTO-DESK.

I have attended a variety of industry workshops such as MILLINERY with sophie lambe, costume Breakdown with Alice Herring and Costume Illustration with Louise Burrows. These workshops have led my love for costume to grow, wishing to experiment with every practice in my designs.

I also spent a year as an INAUGURAL co-manager of the university wardrobe store. There, i helped organise rails, maintained the costumes THEMSELVES and ASSISTED in creating a booking/return system. WORKING in the wardrobe gave me VALUABLE experience understanding the inner workings of a costume house. it has and will always be a leading memory of my UNIVERSITY experience.

I am currently working towards my final third year film in which i will be the lead designer. we are currently crowdfunding for our film ‘one night only’. if you would be willing to donate to our CROWDFUNDED, please see the link at the top of my page. Thank you!
